First United Methodist Preschool of Clearwater
Curriculum:
We use Creative Curriculum that allows for creativity on the part of the teacher. We are theme-based with an emphasis on age-appropriate readiness skills.
Program extras:
First United offers a formal music time for all age groups , a Monday chapel time, a 30 minute gymnastic program with Tumbles Mobile Gym every Wednesday. Included in our VPK is also Orff instrument instruction once a week. Our program is further enhanced with professional plays and puppet shows. In the spring one of our units is community helpers, in which we invite people to talk to the children about their profession.
Performances:
We have Thanksgiving Feast & Program with all age groups; a Christmas Concert with our 3 year classes and VPK, a Circus night with all classes; and a Mother’s Day Tea, Program and Art Show highlighting all the age groups.
Attendance:
We follow the Pinellas County School schedules in-service days & holidays. Only children in VPK are required to send a note for missed days. Children are asked to be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school after a communicable illness.
Class assignments:
Children must reach the required age for each class by September 1st. Children are not moved until the beginning of each school year.
