Welcome to our community - First United Methodist Church of Clearwater!

In July of 2009 a couple came to our church and within a very short time knew that this was their church home.  The worship was inspiring.  The teaching was Christ-centered.  The people were friendly and happy and dedicated.  These two newcomers couldn’t wait to jump in and get involved.  I know this story to be true because the couple I am writing about happens to be me and my wife!  I feel privileged to serve as Senior Pastor of this great gathering of dedicated followers of Jesus.

While First Church, Clearwater has served the Clearwater area for over 150 years, we are always looking for ways that God wants us serve Him here and now and in the future.  

First Church has a great variety of worship services – from the traditional to the contemporary.   We choose the best of the old and the new for use in our services of praise.  For those who appreciate good music in worship, First Church is where you want to be.  Our Chancel Choir, our majestic pipe organ, our contemporary praise team (called Crosswinds), our bell choir, and our children’s choirs – all of these present the gospel in music that moves the soul.  Our newly remodeled sanctuary is as inspiring as it is beautiful.  And, most important, we seek to present the message of Christ in a way that makes it easy to take his Good News and apply it to our everyday lives.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the Hope  of the World.  That is why we state our mission as to “know Christ, to grow in faith, and to serve those in need.”

Our community is a lot more than a building.  It is a vibrant fellowship where people are genuinely glad to see you, shake your hand and say ‘hello,’ teach the children in their Sunday school classes, comfort you in times of uncertainty, visit you when you are convalescing, join in organizing church picnics and festivals, coordinate our youth program and administer a mission program that has received accolades from all over the state of Florida.  

Everyone is welcome here.  I invite you to come and become a part of our community.   It won’t take you long to know that Christ is alive here at First United Methodist of Clearwater!
