February Mission 2012: RCS Food Bank

Thank you to all who helped support the Farm   Worker Ministry! We will keep you posted with pictures and details about the delivery of the donations

The Missions Team invites you to help the

RCS FOOD BANK have a SOUPER February!

WE CAN DO IT!

We will be collecting canned soup in support of Religious Community Services. We invite everyone to bring in canned soup and to think of creative ways to produce a record-breaking harvest of soup for the coming year!

CAN we collect 2000 CANS? The Missions Team thinks we CAN!

As the soup is collected throughout the month, we will build it into a “Soup Wall,” so that we can all see our progress. Every time you enter the doors, whether it's for choir practice, Wednesday night events, Sunday School and a Church Service-remember you CAN make a difference with 1 CAN!

RCS Food Bank is the largest distributor of food to those in need in Pinellas County, serving between 4000 and 5000 individuals monthly.

P.A.S.S.  Tutorial Program

PASS (Producing Academically Successful Students) is a tutoring program.

This is an exciting new ministry at First Church! Last year it helped provide one of the most fundamental needs of all children; a proper education.

Some children in our community are struggling in school because they and their parents typically speak another language and do not posses adequate language skills to perform in the classroom.

This ministry will help the kids with their homework in an effort to bridge that vital communication barrier so these children can have a chance at future success in life. The same chance we would want for our own children.

If you or someone you know is interested in tutoring or volunteering, please call the office at 727-446-5955.

Pack-A-Sack 4 Kids

Fighting Hunger and Food Insecurity one kid and one school at a time!

"Pack-a-Sack" is a community outreach program of United Methodist Cooperative Ministries.  The program is designed to help address the problem of chronic hunger among elementary age children in our public schools.  Our church works with Belleair Elementary to provide a nutritious group of snacks to eligible students who might not have adequate food over the weekends, during the academic year.

If you would like more information about how to help with this mission, contact Lew Hill at 727-644-4795.

Angel Tree Ministry at Christmas

Angel Tree ministry at Christmas is an opportunity to share Christ's love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. Our church makes an annual commitment to this highly rewarding program, and recognizes it as a way to care for some of the most overlooked members of our community. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. Our church volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the Gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent.

If you are interested in being a part of Angel Tree Ministry please contact Erica Jayne Dahlquist at creativeladybug@gmail.com
